Whiskey Jacques is honored to host Finn Riggins for their Album Release party for their upcoming album, Benchwarmers.
Finn Riggins is the result of a longtime collaboration between Cameron Bouiss, Eric Gilbert and Lisa Simpson. Having met while completing their music degrees at the University of Idaho, the trio began playing music together in 2000, an endeavor that would ultimately culminate in what is now Finn Riggins. In August of 2006, Bouiss, Gilbert and Simpson quit their jobs and moved to Sun Valley, Idaho to stitch together the outlines of Finn Riggins at “the helibase” – a secret practice spot/tour launch pad. Practices yielded shows, shows yielded tours and by the end of their first year as a group, Finn Riggins found themselves a national touring act who lived as much on the road as they did at home.
Since the beginning, people have enjoyed sound, the sound that you can feel, the kinda sound that soothes your soul, eases you into serenity, opens you to a new world, pushes you through it, helps you on the other side, gives you a craving for more, this is music you can feel. This is Holy Water Buffalo.
IN NOVEMBER, 2011 Fruition released a new EP, It Won’t Be Long, the third album for the quintet based in Portland, Oregon. In seven original songs, Kellen Asebroek, Mimi Naja, and Jay Cobb Anderson conspire to blend raw, live energy with the strings of traditional folk-Americana. Supported by Keith Simon on upright bass, and Tyler Thompson on drums, Fruition succeeds with lyrical prowess, and harmonies as vibrant as they are heart-breaking.
Tracks like “Wastin’ Away,” and “Bent,” showcase an effortless swing from whiskey-rock to shoe-stomp, from ballad to anthem and everywhere between. This versatility has defined the band since it began in 2008, and hundreds of shows later, Fruition now plays to an ever-growing fan-base in more than a dozen states, to electrified audiences and frenzied dance-floors.
Psychedelic Soul, sometimes called black Rock, is a sub-genre of Soul music, which mixes the characteristics of Soul with Psychedelic Rock. It came to prominence in the late 1960s and continued into the 1970s, playing a major role in the development of Soul and Funk music.
Over the past seven years, Monophonics have staked their claim as one of California’s premier band’s. Raised amid the Bay Area’s rich musical culture, Monophonics has proudly carried on the tradition of music native to their hometown which flourished during the birth of psychedelia.
Monophonics were formed in 2005; originally a instrumental ensemble comprised of guitarist Ian McDonald, bassist Myles O’Mahony, saxophonist Alex Baky, trumpeter Ryan Scott, and drummer Austin Bohlman, the band has recently added the dynamic soul vocals of keyboardist Kelly Finnigan. The result is a psychedelic soul & heavy funk sound, which harks back to the stylings of the late 60’s and early 70’s, all while keeping its feet planted in the present.
